Haiti--A Country in Need of Hope
Though Haiti is a gorgeous tropical country, it is the poorest nation in the western hemisphere. By some accounts, it is the poorest in the entire world. Despite its obvious needs, it has been largely overlooked for aid by the U.S. and other prosperous nations.
In 2005, a Christian partnership was formed around a vision to touch the lives of people in a much neglected part of Haiti in the "villes" of the Grand 'Anse River Valley south of the city of Jeremie. This partnership is known as New Life for Haiti.
The vision of the Partnership is to love the people of Haiti by initiating several community development projects designed to make life better and reduce hardship in the mountain villages of Haiti.
In order to offer the Haitian people something better than a handout, as much work as possible will be done through Haitian churches and schools. The partnership will contribute leadership, money, and people to help with various projects. The area is in great need of help with schools, medical training, agriculture, and community and economic development. New Life for Haiti also plans on assisting local churches, as well as starting new churches where needed.
