New Life for Haiti's Response to COVID-19

A letter from New Life for Haiti Executive Director, Marnie Van Wyk

To our New Life for Haiti volunteers, sponsors, donors, and supporters,

Today we join you in making the difficult decisions that we are all making right now. At New Life for Haiti we are focused on keeping our ministry functioning well and our American and Haitian employees safe, by following CDC guidance while maintaining a commitment to our core values.

New Life for Haiti’s highest priority is the health, safety, and well-being of the people we serve in the Grand Anse River valley of Haiti, our employees, and their families.

Our staff will be working from home for the time being. We are prepared to do this and to provide the same high-level of communication and help that our supporters are accustomed to, communicating routinely via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, email, and video.

We covet your prayers for the people to whom we minister in the Grand Anse River valley, our employees, and especially the 23 orphans in our care. Since some of you have asked, we have established three ways you can help:

  1. Pray – New Life for Haiti is asking all of our supporters to  PRAY for our country, the world, and for our extremely vulnerable Haitian brothers and sisters.

  2. Donate - We are asking those who do have a steady income right now to prayerfully consider “frontloading” your annual donations to New Life for Haiti, meaning sending donations you would normally make at our annual Gala, Giving Tuesday, or our End of Year campaign NOW instead of waiting. This will help us respond expeditiously to the crisis in Haiti. You can do so by using the button below, texting COVIDAID to 41444, donating via our website, or mailing donations to: New Life for Haiti, P.O. Box 33, Plainfield, IL 60544

Please note: Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Coronavirus relief bill now allows taxpayers to receive a $300 deduction for charitable giving – without having to itemize on your 2020 tax return to get it.

Like you, we’ll continue to monitor the quickly evolving status of COVID-19 in Haiti and here in Plainfield, IL where our headquarters are, and modify our decisions accordingly. Please email me directly at marnie.vanwyk@newlifeforhaiti.org to share your ideas or concerns.
Blessings,
Marnie Van Wyk
