Announcing New Life for Haiti's Executive Director & Part-Time Assistant!
New Life for Haiti is pleased to announce Marnie Van Wyk’s promotion to Executive Director! Marnie earns this consideration through her valuable contributions, excellent service, and tireless dedication to New Life for Haiti’s mission, which became effective June 1st. Marnie brings a unique balance of mission focus, fundraising strength, analytical depth, and professional stability to New Life for Haiti (NLH). Marnie has served in multiple capacities for NLH, including Trustee for the Board of Directors responsible for overseeing the School of Hope project, then as Faith Missions Director responsible for many aspects of NLH’s operations. Adaptable in changing environments and experienced working with both our Haitian staff and American donors, Marnie will lead NLH in its 14th year and beyond, and oversee its global ministry efforts in both Haiti and the U.S. We are confident that Marnie’s talents, gifts, leadership skills, and experience will continue the organization’s success and give shape and stability to New Life for Haiti’s vision in its next generation. Marnie shared the following excitement for her new role: “It is an honor and privilege to be chosen as the first Executive Director of New Life for Haiti. There is great opportunity ahead of us to broaden and deepen the transformative work that NLH is already doing. It is a pleasure and privilege to serve the people in the Grand Anse River valley of Haiti in this way, to bring the love and hope of Jesus by acting as His hands and feet to children and families who are incredibly deserving of the ministry we do.”
This leadership transition is just another milestone in New Life for Haiti’s organizational history, characterized by continual learning, growing, and reflection—always centering around our mission and those we serve. We are confident that Marnie Van Wyk will lead us into a new chapter of building even stronger partnerships with churches, organizations, and donors across the U.S. Effective June 25th, New Life for Haiti also welcomes part-time Assistant Megan Buczkowski, who brings with her a degree in Sustainable Business from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a wealth of volunteer non-profit experience with organizations such as Schools of Hope, United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Bethlehem Farm, and the Danny Woo Community Garden in Seattle, WA while completing a stint with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. Megan will replace our current wonderful Missions Assistant Rebecca Taylor, who will be “retiring” June 28th. New Life for Haiti thanks Rebecca for her excellent service and wishes Rebecca and her husband Ryan the very best as they plan on welcoming their first child July 1st.
We hope you will join the Board in congratulating Marnie, welcoming Megan, and thanking Rebecca, and partner with New Life for Haiti in its ongoing mission to meet the urgent needs of Haitian families, give children a chance at a future, foster new economic opportunities, influence cultural thinking for sustainable change, and bring the life-giving message of the hope of Jesus to people in the Grand Anse River valley of southern Haiti.
